Free Online Learning Spanish Grammar Book

Today I will tell you about a free online learning Spanish grammar book that you can download immediately and get access to. Over the weekend, I was surfing the web and I found a Spanish Grammar book in the public domain. The book was first published in 1917. The name of the book is Pitman’s Commercial Spanish Grammar by C. A. Toledano.

I am not sure why the book has the word “commercial” in its title because the book covers Spanish vocabulary and grammar in general and not only for “commercial” purposes.

What I like most about the book is that it is very thorough. Equally as thorough as many if not all of the Spanish grammar books that I have paid “dinero” for. It also has lots of exercises in the book to review and reinforce the material that you have learned.

I also found it very interesting just to learn how much the “style” of writing learning-Spanish books has changed in nearly a century.

Not only did I notice how much the “style” of writing learning-Spanish books has changes in 89 years, but I noticed the “style” of written English has drastically changed in 89 years. You can get instant access to Pitman’s Commercial Spanish Grammar book by doing a Google search or a search at your favorite search engine for “Project Guttenberg Pitman’s Commercial Spanish Grammar.”

If you are serious about learning this foreign language and you are on a budget I highly recommend that you get a copy of this grammar book.

Thoroughbred Horse Racing is a Funny Game!

Racing is a funny game.

We had excellent start to the season, before hitting the rocks about 2 ½ weeks ago, commencing a forgettable run, betting-wise. Losing runs are an inevitable fact of punting. There are times when bad luck, bad rides, or just plain getting it wrong conspires to damage your betting bank.

The silver lining of a losing run is that it checks your over-confidence (ie. you pull your head in). When you think punting is easy – a big fall is usually just around the corner. They also place a good punter into retrenchment mode, reducing the size and, more importantly, frequency and amount of bets. Also a time to check calculations, analysing processes, etc.

I spoke with a good friend about 3 weeks ago who was on a losing run. He said he wasn’t spending much but losing week after week. His error was extremely common, going for the big result off a small investment – trifectas and the like. Boxing 4 horses for 50 cents comes to $12. Seems insignificant enough, but it is 24 combinations and thus 24 bets on the race – too many, especially when the probability of striking a trifecta in a 12 horse race is 1320-1. Thus, on normal probability a 1.8% chance of a winning bet.

KISS = Keep It Simple Stupid. I use this virtually everyday.

I advised my friend to spend the majority of his weekend betting bank on the “Best Bet, Next Best and Value Bets”. And then play around with a small amount.

I rarely take trifectas, mostly due to time constraints, but also I have never really developed a good strategy to attack them. There are a couple of good things to remember when taking a trifecta – which I will pass on at a later date. But firstly, build up a betting bank before taking them. Remember the odds, and be prepared for a run of outs if taking trifectas on a regular basis – less but more fruitful highs and extended lows.

Pick 6 and Quaddies, in the words of Professional punter Lord Ted Frear, are a “throw away bet” – bet money that you readily expect to lose. I am not saying don’t take them, just don’t bet on them with money you cannot afford to lose.

In fact that is true of all punting – do not bet with money you cannot afford to lose. As mentioned in earlier posts, keep a close note of withdrawals and deposits from your betting account, don’t cheat on your record keeping. But do make sure you enjoy the good days, as there are plenty of frustrating days.

Online Learning

Online learning is a term used for education that is provided using the Internet as the communication medium. Online learning allows a student to complete study sessions from home or work, by using the Internet. Learning resources may be in the form of printed material or material downloaded from the Internet. Due to its interactive nature, which permits two way communication, the Internet has emerged as an ideal medium for providing distance learning.

Online learning has made huge inroads in the corporate sector as well. One of the biggest drivers for online learning is the fact that businesses understand the importance of creating knowledge based organizations in order to stay competitive. New technologies and information keep proliferating and employee skills need frequent updating. In addition, executives realized that aligning training with the business goals of their companies was critical.

Online learning can be categorized into three types. The first type is non-formal education that simply involves gathering information for self study or undertaking research for a specific purpose, such as a school project, presentation or a home assignment. The other type of online learning is formal and involves enrolling for a course with an academic institution with the intention of earning an educational qualification in the form of a diploma or degree. The third type is online corporate training, which is usually provided or sponsored by a company for their employees, with the objective of improving their skills and imparting information.

It has been argued that online learning is a competent, if not better, mode of instruction, as compared to traditional classroom instruction. On the flip side, another argument put forward is that online courses may help the learner acquire a deeper understanding of fundamentals, but it does little to polish or build up an individual’s analytical or reasoning skills.

Statistics indicate that classroom teaching is still a predominant form of pedagogy, but online learning in undoubtedly getting popular.
